One Brushless DC Platform, Five Drive Configurations

The BLDC range lets you build a complete low-voltage brushless drive, starting from the same BL series motor and adding the gearbox configuration and controller your application needs.

At the centre of the range is the MiniTecno BL series brushless DC motor, available across five frame sizes with torque from 0.22 Nm to 2.1 Nm. The same motor family is used standalone, or built into a planetary (BLP), wormgearmotor (BLCM), helical parallel (BLFT) or helical bevel (BLCMB) gearmotor, depending on the reduction type, ratio range and shaft orientation your application requires.

Every motor and gearmotor in the range is designed to pair with the Transtecno BLD series of controllers, available from the entry-level BLD07-IT through to the fully digital, servo-style BLDT60 Digital Plus, giving you a complete brushless drive system from a single supplier.

A Complete Brushless DC Drive Platform

The BLDC range supplied by Motordrives Australia is built around the MiniTecno “small but strong” BL series brushless DC motor, available across five frame sizes with torque ratings from 0.22 Nm to 2.1 Nm at 24V, 36V or 48V. The same motor is used standalone, or combined with a planetary, worm, helical parallel or helical bevel gearbox, so the right reduction type and ratio can be matched to your application without changing the underlying motor platform.

Choosing The Right Gearbox Configuration

  • Standalone BL motors: for direct-drive applications or where you are supplying your own reduction.
  • BLP planetary gearmotors: for the highest torque density in the smallest footprint, suited to robotics, positioning and automation.
  • BLCM wormgearmotors: for high single-stage reduction ratios and, at higher ratios, self-locking holding without a separate brake.
  • BLFT helical parallel gearmotors: for higher mechanical efficiency than worm reduction, with a hollow output shaft for direct driven-shaft mounting.
  • BLCMB helical bevel gearmotors: for right-angle (orthogonal shaft) output, where space constraints rule out an in-line arrangement.

What is the difference between the BLDC gearmotor options?

The BLP range uses a planetary gearbox for high torque density, the BLCM range uses a worm gearbox for high single-stage reduction, the BLFT range uses a helical parallel gearbox for higher efficiency, and the BLCMB range uses a helical bevel gearbox for right-angle output. All use the same BL series brushless motor.

Do I need a separate controller for a BLDC motor?

Yes. All MiniTecno BL series brushless DC motors require an external Transtecno BLD series controller for operation.

Can a BLDC motor include a holding brake?

Yes. Brake options are available on selected BL070 and BL210 frame size motors, with or without a manual hand-release lever.
