Overview
The MiniTecno BLCMB range is a brushless DC helical bevel gearmotor, pairing the CMB402 die-cast aluminium gearbox with a low-voltage BL series brushless DC motor. Built under the “small but strong” MiniTecno brand (part of the Transtecno group), the BLCMB range uses ground-hardened helical gears in a right-angle (orthogonal shaft) arrangement, making it well suited to applications where the motor and output shaft need to run at 90 degrees to each other.
The CMB402 gearbox is available across a ratio span from 6.2:1 up to 72.5:1, paired with BLS043.240, BL070.240, BL070.24B, BL070.480, BL070.48B or BL140.480 brushless motors. Motordrives Australia can help match the correct ratio, motor and output configuration to your application’s torque, speed and shaft orientation requirements.
Construction And Design
The BLCMB gearbox uses a die-cast aluminium housing with ground-hardened helical gears, giving smooth, efficient, low-noise operation in a right-angle drive package. Permanent synthetic oil lubrication (viscosity grade 320) makes the unit maintenance-free across its operating life, within a rated ambient temperature range of 0°C to +40°C (in the absence of freezing or condensation).
The output shaft is a hollow bore (Ø18 H8 / Ø20 H8) as standard, suited to direct mounting onto a driven shaft. The gearbox is available with output flanges (F, FL, FB), torque arm accessories (BRDX, BRSX) for anti-rotation mounting, and extended/double output shaft accessories (SZDX, SZSX, DZ). An input flexible coupling option (FX) is also available, and the gearbox can be supplied as a gearbox-only unit with a standard input flange (AS series) or customised flange and coupling for pairing with a customer-supplied motor.
Motor And Gearbox Combinations
The CMB402 gearbox pairs with the following BL series brushless DC motors:
- CMB402 + BLS043.240: 0.43 Nm rated torque motor, 24V/36V, ratios 6.2:1 to 72.5:1
- CMB402 + BL070.240 / BL070.24B: 0.7 Nm rated torque motor, 24V, ratios 6.2:1 to 72.5:1; the “B” variant includes an integrated holding brake
- CMB402 + BL070.480 / BL070.48B: 0.7 Nm rated torque motor, 48V, ratios 6.2:1 to 72.5:1; the “B” variant includes an integrated holding brake
- CMB402 + BL140.480: 1.4 Nm rated torque motor, 48V, ratios 6.2:1 to 72.5:1 (rated torque withstood by the gear reducer for continuous S1 duty is exceeded at the highest ratios — contact Motordrives Australia for confirmation)

- IP55-protected brushless DC motor as standard, with digital Hall sensor feedback
- Right-angle (orthogonal shaft) output, useful where space constraints rule out an in-line motor and gearbox arrangement
- Ground-hardened helical gears for smooth, efficient, low-noise operation
- Die-cast aluminium housing for durability
- Permanent synthetic oil lubrication, maintenance-free across the operating life
- Hollow output shaft standard, with torque arm and extended/double shaft accessories available
- Optional holding brake available on BL070.24B and BL070.48B motor variants

Common Applications
- Right-angle drive automation equipment where the output shaft must run perpendicular to the motor
- Battery-powered and low-voltage equipment requiring efficient helical gear reduction
- Equipment using a hollow output shaft for direct shaft mounting
- Applications requiring a holding brake without back-driving when de-energised
- Continuous duty drives where service factor and gearbox efficiency both matter
Selection Considerations
Selecting the right BLCMB gearmotor starts with the required output torque, speed and ratio, which determines the motor pairing. Duty cycle should be checked against the published service factor (sf) values for each ratio — applications approaching or exceeding sf 1.0, particularly at the higher ratios with the BL140.480 motor, should be confirmed with Motordrives Australia before specifying, as continuous or highly intermittent S1 duty can exceed the rated torque the gear reducer can withstand at those combinations.
Permitted radial output loads vary with output speed and should be checked against the published radial load table for the CMB402 size, particularly where the gearmotor is supporting an overhung load such as a pulley or sprocket mounted directly to the output shaft. Where the resulting radial load is not applied on the shaft centreline, the effective load should be calculated against the permitted maximum before specifying.
For applications requiring closed-loop speed, torque or position control, the BLCMB motor can be paired with the appropriate Transtecno BLD series controller based on the motor’s current and voltage rating.
