Australia’s Trusted WEG W22 Motor Distributor

Overview
The WEG W22 is a next-generation three-phase induction motor designed using advanced computational tools including finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics. Available in IE2 (High Efficiency), IE3 (Premium Efficiency), and IE4 (Super Premium Efficiency) classifications per IEC 60034-30-1:2014, the W22 delivers significant energy savings, reduced noise and vibration, and lower total cost of ownership across frame sizes IEC 63 to 355A/B.
With electric motors accounting for approximately 40% of global energy demand, the W22 represents WEG’s commitment to sustainability — helping Australian industry reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions, and operating costs.
Key Features
- Cast Iron Construction — FC-200 (EN GJL 200) cast iron frame, endshields, and fan covers (160–355) provide superior mechanical strength and thermal performance
- Low Noise & Vibration — Aerodynamic cast iron fan cover design and optimised cooling system significantly reduce sound pressure levels; compliant with IEC 60034-9 and IEC 60034-14 Grade A vibration
- High Energy Efficiency — Available in IE2, IE3, and IE4 efficiency classes; efficiency remains practically constant across the 75%–100% load range
- IP55 Protection — Standard dust and water jet protection suitable for demanding industrial environments
- Flexible Terminal Box — Diagonally split cast iron terminal box can be mounted on top (standard) or left/right side; rotatable in 90° increments
- Easy Maintenance — Flat vibration monitoring surfaces on frames 160–355; grease fittings standard on frames 225S/M and above
- VSD Compatible — WISE® insulation system (rated to 200°C) supports variable speed drive operation; forced ventilation option available from frame 90S
- Impact Resistant — Complies with IK08 (5J mechanical impact) per EN 62262:2002
- Modular Design — EN 50347 compliant output-to-frame ratio allows direct replacement of existing lower-efficiency motors
Efficiency Classes Available
| Efficiency Class | IEC Code | Description |
|---|---|---|
| High Efficiency | IE2 | Meets EU MEPS minimum requirements |
| Premium Efficiency | IE3 | Exceeds minimum standards; mandatory for many applications |
| Super Premium Efficiency | IE4 | Highest efficiency class for squirrel cage induction motors; the most complete IE4 range available |
Cost of Ownership: The purchase price of an induction motor typically represents only 2% of its total lifetime cost. The energy savings from IE3 and IE4 motors far outweigh the additional investment in purchase price.
