Overview
The Transtecno ATS series is a range of helical parallel shaft gearmotors and gear reducers for compact industrial drive applications. Unlike a right-angle worm gearbox, the ATS platform uses a parallel shaft helical gear arrangement, making it well suited to machinery where the motor and driven shaft need to remain in a compact parallel layout.
The range is built around a modular gearbox body. From that base unit, the final configuration can be assembled using different input and output kits, including IEC motor adapters, hollow output shafts, solid output shaft accessories and flange options. This makes the ATS series useful for both new machine builds and replacement jobs where the gearbox needs to match an existing drive arrangement.
Key Features
ATS gearmotors use die-cast aluminium housings and input flanges to keep the gearbox compact and lightweight. The output flanges are cast iron, giving the load-bearing mounting points extra strength where the gearbox connects to the driven machine.
Inside the gearbox, ground hardened helical gears provide efficient and quiet power transmission. The helical parallel arrangement is a good fit for conveyors, packaging machinery and material handling equipment where smooth running and reliable torque transfer matter.
The gearbox is supplied with permanent synthetic oil long-life lubrication. Under catalogue conditions, this helps reduce routine maintenance and allows the unit to be installed across the supported mounting positions without ongoing oil service requirements.
Common Applications
The ATS series is commonly used on conveyor systems, packaging equipment, material handling machinery, agricultural equipment and OEM machinery that needs a compact parallel shaft drive. Its modular input and output options make it practical when the final machine layout needs a specific shaft, flange or motor mounting arrangement.
Because the ATS range can be configured with two or three gear stages and a broad spread of ratios, it can cover both higher speed and lower speed output requirements. Selection should always be matched to the required output torque, service factor, duty cycle and operating environment.
Selection Considerations
Choosing the right ATS unit starts with confirming output speed, required torque and the available motor power. The catalogue lists two and three stage units across ATS 90 and ATS 91 frame families, with ratios from 5.71:1 through to 424.21:1 depending on configuration.
Mounting and shaft details are just as important as torque. Photos of the existing gearbox, nameplate details, shaft diameter, flange dimensions and motor frame size all help when matching a replacement unit. If the application is continuous duty, heavily loaded or subject to shock loading, the service factor should be checked before quoting.
